"Visiting the Dentist" is a priming video designed to show children with autism the routine of visiting the dentist. This DVD presents a peer model undergoing an oral assessment. Children will see the model exhibit skills for a successful dental visit, such as:

• Waiting in the waiting room
• Walking to the dental operatory
• Sitting in the dental chair
• Tolerating the dental light
• Laying back in the chair
• Tolerating the touch of gloves
• Opening his mouth for the mouth mirror
• Tolerating the bib around his neck
• Opening his mouth for the explorer
• Opening his mouth for air
• Opening his mouth for water and suction

A dinosaur puppet narrates the video and presents potentially aversive dental stimuli (e.g., mouth mirror) in a fun way that appeals to children. This priming DVD is a must-have component to any program aimed at teaching children with autism to tolerate dental exams.

"Increasing Dental Compliance for Children with Autism: A Desensitization Package" is designed to complement the related training manual. This DVD will show parents and professionals how to use a multi-component desensitization package for training children with autism to tolerate a dental examination. The DVD provides an explanation of each component of the treatment package, as well as real-life examples of how to use desensitization effectively. The DVD contains actual footage of an unsuccessful pretest dental examination, a clinician implementing treatment, and a posttest that illustrates the childÕs successful compliance to the examination.
